Ernesto has extensive experience representing national and international clients in merger notification, assessment of business practices, development of compliance programs, management of antitrust investigations, as well as coordination of administrative and amparo litigation.
In merger analysis, Ernesto stands out for his experience in comprehensive viability assessments and strategic interaction with regulatory agencies. He has participated in high-profile transactions, such as the acquisition of Twenty-First Century Fox by the Walt Disney Company, the purchase of MATTR’s pipe coating business by Tenaris, the acquisition of rights to the 2.5 GHz radio spectrum by Telcel, and multiple acquisitions by private equity funds.
Ernesto has been a key player in antitrust investigations, covering sectors ranging from Mexican government bonds to energy infrastructure and consumer goods. He has contributed to the development of key antitrust criteria in Mexico, including obtaining the first “leniency-plus” immunity benefit granted by the competition authority in Mexico and the recognition of the attorney-client privilege by specialized courts.
Ernesto holds a Master’s degree in Competition Law from King’s College London, where he graduated with honours, and a law degree from the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE). His career has been recognised by publications such as Chambers & Partners and Legal 500, where he has been named Associate to Watch and Rising Star, respectively.
